Taking a Step Back: The Unlikely Way to Actually Increase Compassion Satisfaction

Taking a Step Back: The Unlikely Way to Actually Increase Compassion Satisfaction

Feeling burnout and apathetic in your work? Struggling with Compassion Fatigue?

We’ve all been there. We begin to feel like the compassion satisfaction when we first started the job is lost and unlikely to come back. Well, perhaps less is more…

According to the book, Peak Performance, it’s important to remember the following script:

Rest + stress = growth.

Don’t cheat your rest with self-care. Stress + more stress = deterioration and burnout.

For many high achievers, or even for those of us just trying to stay afloat, we tend to think rest as “taking time off.” Time we don’t have to spend in the first place.

I encourage you to think of rest as a long-term investment. The rest you allow yourself now will be an investment that returns dividends in performance in the long run.
