Praise and Blame

Buddha once said, “”Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow come and go like the wind. To be happy, rest like a giant tree, in the midst of them all.”

I think about this saying a lot in life…

Even in sports, the winning or losing of a single baseball game is 80 percent due to luck. However, there’s a reason why baseball seasons are over 4 months long…

The long term truth is that over a 162-game season, the luck cancels out and the best teams rise to the top.

I believe this same principle applies in life. No matter how hard you work, or hard you prepare, any individual event may or may not go your way.

That doesn’t negate the benefit of hard work though, rather, it means those who can endure both the ups and down of life, and keep working hard, are the one’s who win in the end.

Here’s to all those who continue in believe in themselves, endure, and play the long game!
