Think better, exercise better, and eat better
As of April 17th of this year, I passed the exam to become a NASM certified nutrition coach!
For years, I’ve been wanted to help people “Think better, exercise better, and eat better” and now as of today, I have the credentials to back up all three!
Being a therapist is great, but it has its limitations too. As a therapist, we can talk the talk with clients, but actually walking the walk is sadly, out of bounds.
For example, say I’m working with a client who’s depressed, but wants to start exercising to help improve their mood. As a therapist, I could and would encourage this, but that’s as far as I could ever take it.
This limitation has officially driven me nuts and over the edge (in a good way!)
So, about a year ago, I decided to go something about it and became an NASM certified personal fitness trainer.
Over the last year since, I’ve built a small gym in the garage of our office and have started doing some personal training. It’s been incredibly rewarding to be able to take ACTION with my clients and not just talk about it.
Still, though, something gnawed at me.
If you want to be truly fit, you have to learn to
THINK BETTER
EXERCISE BETTER
And…
EAT BETTER
Well, today I became an NASM certified nutrition coach as well.
So many people say they want to offer more “comprehensive” care, but are unable or unwilling to pursue those goals.
It’s been a lot late night’s studying, and a long time in the making, but I cannot wait to to turn Mental Fitness into more than just talk therapy, but rather, grow it into a truly comprehensive life improvement organization!
