When deliberating on who we would have present our key note speech at the 2nd Annual Heritage Valley Podiatric Surgery Conference, Steve Wize was a “no brainer”. A key note speaker must set an underlying theme to enthuse the audience and literally “set the tone” for the event. Steve did just that. He captivated an audience of physicians, inspiring us all. To this day, I still have attendees approach and tell me how impactful his speech was, leaving us grateful and refreshed. If you or your company are looking for motivation and insight to success, Steve is a “no brainer”.
“I get to” – one of many memorable lessons that I will always remember from Steve Wize’s key note speech at our annual conference. For the world of healthcare, burnout and stress are all too familiar. Mental wellness should be at the forefront for healthcare providers and Steve Wize reminded us how vital this to help others. In a short 20 minute talk, he inspired a room full of over worked and over tired physicians to overcome and value our responsibilities in a refreshing new way. We left the conference invigorated with a gentle reminder of “why we started”. He is an asset to any company, business, or hospital that would thrive from motivational encouragement and a lesson on mental fitness. Would highly recommend!
I left the conference with a page full of notes and an attitude for success. I couldn’t recommend Steve Wize more!

Fitness is a way of life for Steve Wize. Whether it’s completing an Ironman 70.3, running in the Boston Marathon, or simply playing recreational softball with friends, being in top shape matters to Steve. But not only does Steve work hard to stay in shape, he helps and motivates others to do so. He has a passion to help people improve their physical health and have a better quality of life. Steve is an encourager. He has a gift to motivate you, even as he walks alongside with you.
As a former professional counselor and current professional life coach, Steve has spent his career helping individuals overcome their addictions and improve their mental health. So it’s no surprise that Steve came up with the idea of Mental Fitness- a total system to keep our minds in shape, just like we need to keep our bodies fit.
Steve not only developed the idea of Mental Fitness, he lives it. Each day he works to improve himself. He strives to be more positive, loving and authentic. He values and invests time in his relationships with his family, friends and clients. He works out to be in the best physical shape possible, while also challenging himself to grow intellectually, mentally, and spiritually. Steve does an amazing job of putting into practice the ideals he espouses. Steve genuinely cares about people, and his desire to help people achieve their potential is evident in everything he does.
If you want to see results, you need to put in the effort. If you are willing to try, I can’t think of a better person than Steve to help you achieve your goals. Steve is an excellent coach who won’t give up on you, an inspirational and engaging motivational speaker, and a great mentor who can help you face the challenges of life. So what are you waiting for?

Since I started going to my coaching sessions with Steve, I have learned that he is such a dedicated counselor and hard worker. He is one of the most down to earth people I know and actually cares about me. There is nothing at all fake about what he says. Since the first time I went and talked with Steve, it was like talking to an old friend and it didn’t take any time at all for my defensive walls to go away. I would recommend Steve over any other counselor I have had in my life hands down. He is just an awesome guy!
Steve has done a really good job letting me open up and share my story with him. He has created a great atmosphere for his clients to grow and strengthen themselves mentally through various exercises. Since I started going to Steve I have felt better handling anxious and stressful situations with the tools he has taught me.
Having Steve as my coach has been great. I feel like I can talk about anything with him because he’s not a judgmental person. He pushes me to have goals and to do things for myself. When I’m having a hard time he always seems to know how to make things seem better. He’s a very positive person. He sees the good in me and I can tell he really cares.
When I first started working with Stephen I was recovering from serious health issues. I am not a stranger to counseling but when I asked Stephen what I should do his reply was that he will not tell me what I should, ought, or need to do but that we could work together to find a solution. This was a new concept for me; I had spent my entire life following the rules that someone else had laid out for me. I had lost my own voice. Stephen challenged me to use my psychology background, read and outline several books, and complete worksheets to figure out what my values were and what goals I had for myself. There are many “Stephenisms” or key phrases that I have learned:
- You are the expert of yourself
- Do not make decisions based in fear disguised as practicality
- Emotions are your GPS allow them to guide you
- Have a smile on your face and a song in your heart
- What you resist persists and what you accept transforms you
Through these mental mantras I have learned that it is important to listen and trust myself. I was even able to return to graduate school and complete my master’s degree. I am grateful for all that I have learned and continue to learn. Stephen challenges me to continue to learn, grow, and become a better person. I am thankful for having him in my life.
